Writing Workshops

Whether you are a young adult or well into retirement, joining a writing workshop is for you. When you come to a workshop, you will focus on the craft of writing stories from your life. These workshops are generally two weeks long. The first week, you will focus on writing exercises and brainstorming the content you want to write about. The second week, you will come back and work as a group to refine your story. These workshops are very engaging and participation is required. This is a great opportunity to socialize and make new friends in a supportive atmosphere.

The skills you will learn in these two weeks will be a lifelong gift, so you are able to write family histories, personal vignettes, and even the beginnings of your very own memoir. Whether you are a beginning writer or are advanced, this will be an incredible opportunity to build your skills or refine the skills you already possess.

Bring your writing materials and let’s get out of your comfort zone while trying something new and meeting new people! You can either choose to come to a public workshop or we can set up a private or small group setting to suit your style. Community Education of the Black Hills often sponsors events that will take place at various coffee shops or classrooms throughout the Black Hills. On Common Ground is another sponsor, where we use a community meeting space at 610 Saint Francis St. in Rapid City.
